Home Schooling - The Big Question!

Earlier this month, we approached the BIG question.  Should we home educate our youngest son?  My husband and I had always thought that I was too old and he was too energetic to home educate.  We also thought, that it was time for me to re-enter the career arena after having home educated my oldest son.  We really felt that it was time to increase from a one income household to a two income household.  However, recent nationally publicized school events and the lack of support we have received in our local schools led us as a family to re-evaluate.

We chose to re-evaluate our needs and desires, our long term and short term goals, and what we want as a family.  After watching our son come home from third grade every day in tears, we decided that we would not measure our success in monetary means.  Our biggest desire, to prepare our children for what lies ahead, will take the forefront of our lives.  Although I thoroughly enjoyed attending public schools, I honestly do not believe that they are for everyone.  It has been my experience that children with learning differences or children who are gifted do not thrive in a public school environment where everyone is taught using the same methods.

Each of us cross bridges and make monumental decisions every day.  How to educate our children is one of the most important decisions many of us will ever make.  We simply have to do the best we possibly can to provide a future generation of forward thinkers.
